"Dear Ruth, Shelby and all the family. You have my deepest heat felt sympathy. I grew up in the same neighborhood as Joe, attended grammar and high school with him. I considered him to be a good friend. He was also a wonderful caring person. He was a class leader and active in sports. He will be missed, but a very big part of my fondest memories. Much love, Margie Keener Romans"

"All of us in the Sprayberry Class of '56 remember Joe Ben as an all around great guy. He participated in all the sports that SHS had at that time. He was our class VP for 3 years and class President in 1956. He was voted "Best Looking" our Senior Year. He was active in Dramatics Club and a good actor in our plays. He and Ruth were our friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family. With love and sympathy, Linda Lord Miller and the SHS Class of '56"

"It is with sadness that I write about the death of a fine man, Joe Ben Brackett, a fellow student at Sprayberry High School. He was a student leader, president of the class of 1956, handsome, half the girls in the class were in love with him, and kind to everyone. Through the years, I would occasionally see Ruth and Joe Ben at Sprayberry reunions. He talked with such pride about his family. My deepest sympathy to Ruth and their children. Blessings!
