Tribute & Message From The Family

Willard " Bud " Sherman was born 101 years ago in Riverside, RI to John Willard and Emily ( Foster ) Sherman. He had an older sister Ellen. In his earliest years the family moved around living several places on the east coast.
When his father deserted the family, Emily took him and his sister home to family in England where they were treated well, but Emily wanted her children raised American so they soon moved back to the U.S.
Times were tough Mom and sister worked and Buddy helped out by starting a business gathering rags and other sellable objects from the bay and selling them to dealers.
Bud met his future wife Mildred at a dance in Pawtucket, RI. They married in 1939.
Bud served in the Army in occupied Germany in 1945 to 1946.
Bud and Mildred raised 4 children and 2 foster daughters living in RI, PA and New Jersey.
They retired to Marietta, Ga. in 1976 spending their time gardening and traveling to see their family scattered around the United States. They volunteered at various community and churches. His favorite was Children's Garden Clubs.
