Tribute & Message From The Family

Laura Jill Parkinson, 55, of Marietta, GA passed away surrounded by family on April 25, 2017 due to complications of COPD. She was born on October 6, 1961 in Atlanta, GA.
Jill, as she was commonly known as when she was younger, was resilient. She fought hard for the things and people she believed in and never gave up. Jill was exceptionally compassionate and had a wide capacity of love. She was generous and was always willing to help out someone in need even when she didn't have much herself.
Jill was a homemaker. It's true what they say - a home isn't always just a place, sometimes it's a person. She could turn any house into a home because she herself was the home. Jill devoted her whole life to her children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathie Nordan, and father, Jack Livingston Cheek. She is survived by her two daughters, Lauren and Kelsey Parkinson; husband, Kenneth Parkinson; father, Paul Nordan; brother, Jack Cheek and Teresa Cheek; sister, Monica Turner; and by people she loved and was loved by such as sister-in-law Janis Snipes, brother-in-law Bruce Parkinson and his wife Karen Parkinson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
The family will receive loved ones for visitation at 2 pm on May 6, 2017 at Southern Cremations and Funerals in the Columbarium. A service will follow at 3 pm in the same place.
