Tribute & Message From The Family

Susan Glause Finley, 72, of Marietta, passed away on May 8, 2017. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life in the Parlor at Roswell United Methodist Church on May 20, 2017 between 10am-2pm. The family will also hold a final resting ceremony at Muskingum University on May 28.

Susan was born on October 25, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Melvin and Ruth Glause. She was a 1962 graduate of Brush High School and in 1966 received her BS in Education from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio where she met Allen Ray Finley. Susan and Allen celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on June 11, 2016.

In 1995 Susan earned a Master of Education from Kennesaw State University. She taught elementary math for the Cobb County School District for over 15 years, while tutoring numerous middle and high school students for many more. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, meeting with her book and investment clubs over the years, and, of course, spending time with her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her husband Al; daughter Sonya, her husband BJ Bailey, and their children Annabelle and Sophia of Arlington, Virginia; son Brad, his wife Laura and their children Brenna and Garrett Finley of Geneva, Illinois; daughter Kara of Atlanta; and sister Betty Wallis and her family of Chardon, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Adopt a Golden Atlanta.

May the God of all comfort strengthen the family during this time of deep sorrow. Those who pass on, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. My sincerest condolences. Psalms 116:15.

Al, Sonya, Brad and Kara,

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Sue. We remember our years together, as across the street neighbors, in Chimney Springs, many years ago. We hold fond memories of all of you and we pray for God's peace to be with you and for His presence to be felt during your time of sorrow.

"Grieving never ends, but it changes.
It's a passage not a place to stay.
It's not a sign weakness, nor a lack of faith.
It is the price of LOVE."

With love and our continued prayers.
Swint and Mary Jane Burkhalter
