WATSON, Charles Coleman, 94, a resident of Marietta, Georgia, previously of Montgomery and Prattville, Alabama, died at his home Monday May 1, 2017. Charles was born in Burnsville, Alabama on July 9, 1922. He was the fourth child of his parents, Elijah and Ida Naomi (Brown) Watson. In July 1942, Charles married Jimmye Curtis Richardson of Prattville, Alabama. The couple remained devoted to each other until her death in May 1970. Prior to his retirement, Charles was Administrator and a member of the Board of Directors of Greil Memorial Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama. Charles was most recently a member of Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Marietta, Georgia and had previously served as a Ruling Elder in several churches of the Presbyterian Church in America.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Berman Watson, and two sisters, Sara Hanna and Mattie Victoria Thomas. Survivors include a son, Charles C. Watson, Jr. (Cindy) of Woodstock, Georgia, granddaughter, Shelley K. Quick, and great-grandson, Jesse Coleman Quick of Smyrna, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be planned for Saturday May 20 at 11 am at Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church (4101 Sandy Plains Road Marietta, Georgia 30066). Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Prattville, Alabama.
