Bruce Summerfield, age 74, passed away on October 16, 2017 after a long fight with liver cancer. Bruce was born in Elkins, West Virginia in 1943. He grew up on a farm and joined the Air Force in 1961. He did a tour in Vietnam. He retired as a firefighter with the Clayton County Fire Department in 1998 after 31 years of service. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Summerfield. They shared 26 years of happiness together. He loves to tell the story that he married her three times with never a divorce! He leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Beth Summerfield, from Woodstock, GA; Stepsons Robby Eubanks and Richard Summerfield; Stepchildren with Shirley are Larry LeRoy and Jacquie Taylor; Granddaughter, Madison Summerfield; Stepgrandchildren Jack Taylor, Gracie Taylor, Kennedie LeRoy, Drake LeRoy, Jones LeRoy, Katie Eubanks, Kevin Eubanks, Daulton Summerfield and Benjie Summerfield. Four of his 14 siblings remain, Bunky Summerfield, Mona Fay Bond, Agnes Vivo and Gloria Davis.

Bruce and Shirley loved to over the top decorate for most holidays. Bruce did a total makeover of the landscape of the one-acre property with little theme parks for various spots. Over the years they totally remodeled the interior of their home.

Bruce loved to travel. They have taken a dozen cruises some to Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, all the Caribbean islands and the Yucatan Peninsula. He loves hunting and fishing and enjoyed many trips to Biloxi and Tunica to the casinos. He's been water tubing, parasailing and has climbed Stone Mountain. He has ridden the train across some provinces in Canada and has stood on both sides of Niagara Falls. He loved exploring through the Smoky Mountains and enjoyed flea markets. His favorite hobby was making fishing sinkers in his garage.

He accepted Christ as his savior, and we will see him again in heaven.
