Obituary for Mrs. Kerri Anea Huitt

October 21, 2016
Marietta, Georgia

Kerri Anea McCarthy Huitt, 54, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, October 21st, 2016, in Marietta, Georgia. Kerri is survived by her husband of 23 years, Dwayne Huitt of the home; son Nicholas William John Huitt of the home; stepson Timothy Phillip Huitt (with fiance Stephanie Montalto) of Monroe, Connecticut; mother Ann McCarthy of Orange City, Florida; sister Kay Ann McCarthy (with husband Robert Niewiarowicz) of Westminster, Colorado; and mother-in-law Carol Huitt of Moore, South Carolina; and uncle Alvin Hedger She is preceded in death by her father William John McCarthy, aunt Marian Louise McCarthy Hedger, aunt Erma Kremeier and uncle Wayne Kremeier.

Kerri marched to the beat of her love of music. It started with lip-syncing performances with her sister for her family. It continued with joyful singing in choirs in high school and becoming a member of the Sprayberry Yellow Jacket Marching Band. She went on to marry a music man who wooed her with his piano and guitar skills. Kerri's infectious smile was always shining brightly, even in response to her husband's "special" sense of humor.

Wife and mother were Kerri's most important career choices. Kerri finished her work with Fireman's Fund in 1996 and made mother her job title. She enjoyed her time as teacher's assistant, den mother, flower gardener, jewelry artist and cherished her time working with her friends at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart.

In addition to providing a loving and supportive home for her family, she lifted the spirits and hearts of everyone in her community of friends and neighbors during tough times. Her support of the pet community was important to her as well...she would stop traffic to get out of her car to save a lost pup. There were lots of kids who felt comfortable calling her "mom" and she gladly accepted their affection.

Kerri's faith in God was strong in the face of her painful fight with cancer. She never waivered in her trust that her lord and savior, Jesus Christ, would be there to comfort and care for her.

A visitation for family and friends will be at 11 o'clock A.M. followed by the Funeral services in the Cheatham Hill Columbarium Chapel on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 at noon, followed by a brief graveside service in the Cheatham Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow in the chapel immediately following burial.

While Kerri adored flowers, her passion for continued cancer research and for animals would be honored with donations to the American Cancer Society and/or the ASPCA.
